Virginia and Babies
Update 4/17/11: The tabby had to be euthanized today, as he was suffering and near death. We are down to 1 remaining little fighter...and Virginia, the mom. We just picked mom up. She is infested with hookworms which was causing the fecal blood, and has gotten her first round of wormer. She is on antibiotics for the blood in the urine. ![]() She will not be able to nurse, and lost all her babies (remaining kitten is the adopted one). But she will recover while being loved and given all the food she wants. No more hunger pains fof this sweet girl that has stolen everyone's heart! ![]() Update 4/17/11: Unfortunately the little orange boy did not make it through the night :'( He just had no more strength left. His brother the tabby isn't doing so well today, time will tell. On a good note, the larger black boy is still doing ok...still touch and go, but holding on. Mom is still in ER, but resting comfortablely...probably for the first time in her life. Will update again later or tomorrow. Thank you to everyone who can help!!! Virginia is a young Mom who we saved along with her babies, and other cats/dogs on Saturday. They came from a kill shelter in WV...all came in rough shape. ![]() Virginia and babies were the worst. She had been starved and was so dehydrated that her milk completely dried up. In turn, she arrived with only 6 of the 9 babies she was sent with. One baby arrived deceased, 1 near death and the others very weak. Mom was lethargic, urinated and deficated blood, and was clearly in need of medical attention. ![]() Dawn, our VP/Kitty Coordinator, and her husband, Chris, rushed Virginia & 5 babies to Orchard Park ER. Unfortunately 2 had to be humanly euthanized. Mom was Fiv/FeLV tested negative and her blood work was ok. But she was very dehydrated and we still didnt know why she was so sick. ![]() Virginia is staying at least 1 day at the ER, and Dawn took the last 3 babies home to bottle feed every 2 hours. We had to purchase a heat lamp, thermometer and kitten milk. That, combined with the down payment at the ER, makes up the total chipin amount currently needed. We will update the chipin when we have any news and to reflect changes in donations needed. ![]() Virginia and her remaining babies need your help. Two of the babies are 6 days old and one is 11 days old (she adopted that one before she came). Any amount you can give will help us save these precious lives. They did not deserve the neglect they received before we got them, and we will do whatever we can to help them! ![]() |
