Sam

Update 12/27/10:
Sam went to his Vet appointment for his surgery today. He went to the Town & Country Vet Clinic in Cheektowaga. When we arrived to pick him up, they said that he was a "Christmas Miracle". The Vet said that his jaw had healed completely on its own so all they had to do was extract 3 teeth as opposed to wiring his mouth. They said that he had bone loss and lots of damage which is why they needed to come out. Sam did very good through surgery. They did Radiographs, extracted the teeth while under Anesthesia, and gave him an antibiotic and pain med's. This all came to $601.00 so we have updated his chipin, by removing the previous balance which was a lot higher. Sam has a check up in two weeks but is now well enough to be adopted. His foster parents have decided to give him a forever home! Yah for Sammy "Davis".

Update 10/21/10:
Sam went to the Specialist who said that he will need to have wires and splints put in his mouth in order for his infected tooth to be extracted. This procedure will cost $1,322.00. After 12 weeks they will need to be removed and it will cost an additional $400.00. A lot of rescues given his age, would just say that he should be put down. We do not believe in that and we really want him to be healthy and happy for the rest of the time he has with us. We currently do NOT have enough funds to pay for his surgery so if you could help out with even $5.00 then Sammy would appreciate it and so would our rescue group. Thank you for your support!!

Update 10/20/10:
Sam went to the Vet yesterday and had some teeth extracted. While he was there they took X-Rays of his mouth, because of his teeth looking so bad. The Vet called us to let us know that one of his molar's could not be extracted even though it had an abscess on it. They explained to us that his jaw was fractured (due to lack of dental care by his previous owners) and that the tooth was actually holding his jaw somewhat together. They said that he would have to see a dental specialist soon. Even though Sam is going through all of this pain, he still remains a happy boy. His foster parents add warm milk to his food to soften it every day so that he can eat. The total bill came to $478 which we have added to his chipin. If you can help that would be great!

Sam is a very sweet and happy 12 years young Minpin. When we got him, his foster parents noticed a very foul odor coming from his mouth. We took him to the vet and found out that he has a severe infection. Most of his teeth are rotted and some to the point that they are eating into his gums.

His initial visit including medication came to $64.00. He has to go back to Seneca Animal Hospital in a couple of weeks to have his teeth cleaned and some removed. They estimated his bill to be $300 so we are asking for help for that amount. When he goes to the vet, if it is less then we will lower the Chipin amount.
