Animals Available to Foster

Below are animals currently available to foster. If you have any interest in fostering any of these animals, please submit a foster application.

Food, litter, supplies and vet care are fully provided for the animal by us, unless you prefer to provide adequately on your own. When fostering, you will need to love, care for, and train (if needed) to the best of your ability. You will also need to watch for any changes in behavior or health and notify us immediately of any changes.

Athena aka Midgy (because of her height) is a 7 month Lab mix puppy. She has the Lab face with a short body. The vet said that she looks like she might be mixed with a Daschund because she has the long short body. She is very sweet, loveable, and energetic. She loves other dogs but seems like she is more of the Alpha female. She was adopted through our rescue group when she was 8 weeks old, but was returned due to a divorce. She also guards her food from other dogs so she would need to be fed seperately. Athena is up to date on all of her shots, dewormed, and spayed. She is mostly potty trained but may have an accident here or there because she is still a puppy. She will be on the small/medium in size when she gets older. Need Foster Only
Bambi is a female Shepherd mix dog who was diagnosed with Heart Worms and Lyme disease. She is currently on a daily medication and a monthly Heart Worm medication. Bambi loves everyone (children, dogs, cats....) She is a sweetheart who just wants to be pet and loved. She is only a year old and has to face some painful injections and treatment. She needs a compassionate foster family who will hold her paw through this tough time. She will need to go to a few vet appointments in which the foster is responsible to transport her there. We will supply you with the food and PAY all vet costs associated to her treatment. Once she is healthy enough then she can be spayed. So right now she cannot be around any male unneutered dogs. Bittle is a male ct approx. 5 years old. He has one functioning eye (as did his mom) as he suffers from non contagious herpes of the eye. He also has a polyp in his left ear that gives him an impish look as his head is always cocked to the side. The polyp is not dangerous according to the vet and he could live with it forever. He likes to be pet, but he does not like to be picked up as it makes him dizzy because of his ear. The way he looks at you is extremely endearing and he is totally a cat for a softie. Bittle loves everyone-cats, dogs and kids. He is spunky and not afraid of anything. He is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. Breeze is a gorgeous Pure breed female Husky dog. She is around 4 years old and has the most beautiful blue eyes. Unfortunately, she was used as a puppy mill dog. She does not need to be used for breeding anymore and needs a family who will love and care for her. She is shy and afraid when she first meets you yet shows ZERO signs of aggression. We believe that she was abused at some point because she will cower at times. Otherwise she is loving and GREAT with other dogs. We do not recommend Breeze with younger children who will jump around and frighten her. She is up to date on her shots, dewormed, given a flea treatment, and will either be spayed prior to adoption or come with a spay certificate. Breeze would probably be fine with cats also. She does do the occasional howl (which is adorable). She walks good on the leash and really needs a little time to come out of her shell. Breeze is potty trained along with being crate trained. We would prefer that she has a comfort area such as a crate, even if its left open for her. She has to be zip tied or have a fenced in backyard. Bruiser is a male Saint Bernard 2 year old dog. He is large and weighs around 75 pounds so large breed experience is a plus. He is a very affectionate and loving dog who enjoys being petted! He is good with female dogs but shows his dominance over male dogs. Bruiser is good with children and is not recommended with children under the age of 5, due to his size. Buddy is a small Beagle mix puppy who is around 6 month's old. He weighs around 15 pounds and is not going to be very big. His first mom couldn't keep him because of her landlord, the second family couldn't keep him either, so we are hoping that the third time will be a charm and he will get adopted forever! He is GREAT with other dogs and will follow them around trying to play. He is good with cats and children as well. Buddy does have a high energy level so he would need an active family to keep him busy. Duke is a nice boy looking for a special home. He was ran over when he was younger and lost one of his rear legs. He tends to get nervous around other dogs because he was previously attacked by a large dog and was severely injured. He seems to be more relaxed around female dogs. Young children also make him very nervous and we feel that he would do best in a home with older children (or no children). He is also very scared of thunder and loud noises. Duke is about 5-6 yrs old and is just hoping to find a place to retire and love out his days in comfort. He is neutered and up to date on his shots. Dusty is a male Lab/Shar Pei mix. He is an owner surrender due to his food aggression towards other animals. He does NOT show food aggression to people. He is around 5 1/2 years old and is fine around kittys although he should be fed by himself. The same goes towards other dogs. He is a great dog besides this ONE issue. He is neutered, up to date on his shots, and microchipped! He weighs in around 45-50lbs so we do not recommend him with children under the age of 5. We think that he would feel more comfortable with older children.

Here is Geoffrey at a KILL shelter waiting to be adopted. Since he has not been adopted yet, our rescue group decided to take him in. He is a Lab mix who is around 2-3 years old. Meet Higgins, a male Boxer mix dog who is close to 3 years old. He is very sweet and gets along great with other dogs. He does not like cats so he cannot be in a home with any. He is very good with children but due to his size we would prefer that he goes to a household with children over the age of 5. He currently weighs close to 70 pounds. Higgins has been dewormed, neutered, and is up to date on his shots. He was recently treated for Heart Worms so he will need a check up in 3 month's to make sure that they are all gone. Otherwise he is happy and healthy! He is a good boy that is ready for a new home! He is friendly with other dogs when going on walks and playing but in the house he does get possessive over his toys and food. Jewelz came to our rescue from a bad situation in Ohio where over 60 dogs were siezed. She was pregnant but is now ready to be adopted. She is around 3 years old and is said to be a Shepherd/Pit mix, although she looks more Shepherd than anything. She is very affectionate, sweet, loving, and playful! Jewelz will sit there and play with her puppies with toys or just run around with them. She is EXCELLENT with children of all ages and allows them to do anything to her without showing any signs of aggression. She is great with all dogs but does not like cats. Meet Jinx! Jinx (or Jinxie) is a 5 1/2 year old Husky-German Shepherd mix who loves running, playing in the snow, fetching, tug of war, snuggling, and of course food! She is looking for a new home where she has room to run and a loyal master. Jinx's Story: Although Jinx was named when originally adopted, it is believed she got her name from her unique feature of one blue eye and one brown eye. Jinx has been spayed, is up to date with all of her shots, and is housebroken. Medical records will be provided. Jinx has not been exposed much to other dogs so it is unknown how she would mix in a household with them. She does, however, get along great and loves to play with her doggie-friend who lives across the street from her foster family. Jinx's Challenges: Jinx doesn't like the sound of grinding nails so it may take more than one person to trim her nails. Jinx can feel nervous when people enter her personal space and can be slightly food-aggressive. Due to this, it is recommended Jinx is not adopted to a family with small children. This is the reason why this otherwise lovable dog is up for adoption. Jinx's Strengths: Jinx is protective, friendly, loyal, and playful! Jinx has beautiful characteristics and even placed as runner-up for softest coat in the 2009 City of Mentor (OH) Pet Show. Jinx's "tricks" are limited to sitting, giving paw, and giving a high-five. Meet JuneBug She is about 3 years old. This poor kitty has a limb deformity that you can only appreciate in person. Her hind paws are large and have extra toes, but her fronts are very different. Both are shorter than normal and are different lengths. She walks on more than just the top of her paw with her one leg and the other just makes the ground. Her tail also appears to be broken in a few spots. Despite all this she gets around just fine, however we are listing her special needs due to her deformities/injuries. Katie is a female Pure Breed Chinese Crested dog who is around 2 years old. She is special needs, due to her breed and being that she has had Demodex Mange in the past. It is not likely that she will get it again but if she is in a stressful situation then she could break with it. Katie is spayed, up to date on her shots, and dewormed. Moisturizers and Aloe vera need to be applied to the skin, as well as limited sun exposure with sunscreen, and weekly baths. She is GREAT with children although we perfer her to be with older children. She is picky with the dogs that she likes, and she does have food aggression so she would need to be fed seperately or be the only dog in the house. We are not sure how she is with cats. She has a wonderful temperament and gets along with other dogs. She will tolerate cats but we do not recommend her in a home with one. She is GREAT with children and is very gentle with them. Patty is a female Treeing Walker Coonhound mix dog. She is around 3 years old. Her front paw was caught in a hunter's trap so she does have a scar there. It does NOT prevent her from walking or running. She is also a little overweight so we are trying to help her keep the weight down, but she is otherwise healthy. We were able to track down a previous owner, who confirmed that this dog has been abused a lot. As a result, she is a little cautious with people, but interacts well once she gets to know you. She has more fear towards men than woman. It is NOT aggressive at all. Patty is very quiet,composed, and gets along well with other dogs. She knows many commands from being in the prison program for so long. Patty is now available for adoption to a good and loving home. Princess is a 3 year old Shepherd mix doggie. Unfortunately, she was recently pregnant and her puppies were aborted so that she could be spayed. This was done before our rescue group got her. Pucca is a male Siberian Husky/Shepherd mix who weighs around 80 to 85 pounds. He has one blue eye and one brown eye. He is an owner surrender due to lack of time to spend with him and a small living environment. In any case Pucca is an AMAZINGLY sweet boy who is friendly with everyone. He LOVES children but should not be with any under the age of 12. He did bite the arm of a 6 year old that was near his food. We do not know what exactly caused it, but he cannot be around small children for this reason. If younger kids are going to visit, he would need to go in a crate or a room seperate from the child. He is GREAT with all dogs both little and small. He has ZERO aggression towards them. He also came from a home with 3 cats so he is very much socialized with them! Roscoe is a super sweet guy looking for his retirement home. He is a Treeing Walker Coonhound about 7 yrs old and weighs about 70 lbs. He is very docile and relaxed and loves everyone. He had a previous injury to his front foot/leg and has some scaring on his foot, but it doesn't affect him too much besides a slight limp. Roxxy is a female Catahoula mix dog who is just about a year and a half. She is a very sweet dog, but doesn't get along with other dogs. We think that she would be fine with cats though. Roxxy loves to go for hikes, swimming, and walking. She has a medium energy level and walks AMAZING on a leash. She loves to play fetch and discover new things. She is highly intelligent, loyal, and affectionate. She is great with children also! She is potty trained and crate trained. Shelly was found sitting on the sidewalk by the local EMS office. She looked pretty lost!! She is a cautious dog who will be your best friend once she realizes that you are nice. She is VERY gentle but is a little fearful when people yell. We think that shey may have been either abused mentally and or physically. She is around 2 years old and would prefer to be in a quieter home without small children. Steffany is a Female Black Lab/Pit Bull mix dog who is around 2 years old. She had puppies a little while ago and all got adopted, but not her. She is basically a throw away mom which is really sad because she is very sweet and playful. Steffany has been spayed, is up to date on her shots, tested NEGATIVE for Heart Worms, and has been dewormed. She is great with children and LOVES most other dogs. Steps is a female Shepherd mix 2 year old dog. She was surrendered to a KY shelter back in January and still hasn't found a new home. We do not know why because she listens very good, walks beautifully on the leash, and LOVES water. She is currently staying with the President of BPC and immediately jumped right in her pond. Teddy is a 2 year old neutered male Chow mix. He is BLIND therefore he is a special needs doggie. He is very sweet and gets around great! He is not afraid to walk around and explore. He most likely would need a zip line or invisible fence. He is not very happy being in a fenced in yard and will try to dig to get out. Teddy is great with other dogs but does not like cats. He is also great with children although we have not seen him around babies or toddlers. He is a great disposition and would make a great family pet.
