 April, before she was adopted, ended up with mastitis. Mastitis in cats is a bacterial infection that affects the mammary glands. It can be a very painful condition, although it is not considered an emergency situation most of the time. It is almost always localized, but if it is severe, it can spread to other parts of your cat and can become septic which is a bacterial infection that attacks your cat’s blood. We took April in right away and received Cefpodoxime Proxetil. It didn't go away completely, so she needed to have a recheck and was given Clavamox. The total for her care was $63. Please help us recover this cost so we can use our funds towards current medical conditions. Thank you!

Rufus is a male 10 year old 50 pound Bassett mix senior dog. We rescued him from DEATH ROW in Georgia. How could we let this old boy sit in a kill shelter awaiting his death when he can retire in a nice warm loving home. When he came in, he was filthy. He had burs, oil in his fur, and smelled terrible. We feel like he might have lived at a junk yard outside his entire life. We gave him 3 baths and trimmed out some of his fur. We took Rufus to Animal Eye care of WNY to have his eyes examined as we weren't sure how well he could see. They said that he has dry eye and gave us some drops to put in them. We were told that he is sensitive to light and can see but it's blurry which is why he has to get close up to things in order to know that they are there. He also has a tiny tumor on his eye lid, which can be easily removed. We will have that taken care of prior to adoption, if needed. Rufus is also hard of hearing and or deaf. We think that he might be able to hear very loud sounds such as whistles. Rufus is EXCELLENT with other dogs and is great with both large and small ones. He is very low key and low energy. He walks slow and has shown some signs of arthritis. He does sleep a lot but enjoys going for short walks or wandering around the yard. We haven't seen him around cats, but we think he would be fine. Someone may think that he would be a challenge due to his limited eye sight and loss of hearing, but its just the opposite. He is very low maintenance and would be an awesome dog to hang out with for his last few years. He has a lot of love to give and his extremely appreciative for being out of that terrible place. Even though most of his life, he has lived a neglectful one we are asking that someone step forward to show this dog that he will be happy, well taken care of, and loved for his remaining years. It will take a special devoted person to do this. Are you that person? Many times the seniors get over looked but please take the time to meet him and to open your heart and home to him. We will be forever grateful and so will he! Our rescue group had senior blood work done on Rufus which came back great. The Vet said he doesn't have any health issues and that his teeth look pretty good for his age (no dental work needed). Rufus is excellent with children of all ages and has ZERO aggression issues. He does howl once in a while but only when he wants back inside the house. He is potty trained as well as crate trained. He lays down in his crate and is very quiet. He is up to date on his shots, dewormed, and full blood work done so negative on heart worms. He is NOT neutered. Due to his age the Vet does not feel that he should have to be put through that surgery so it's best to leave him unaltered. He does not hump and has no desire to. If you cannot adopt him but would like to foster him, we are looking for one. We supply the food and any vet care needed while in foster care.

Cooper is a male 40 pound Australian Shepherd mix 5 year old dog. He is very loving and sweet! He was adopted from us 2 years ago and then returned. He is EXCELLENT with children and lived in a home with two of them. He can be a little shy with new people that he meets, but is not aggressive at all. Cooper will need to occasionally be groomed, which we recently had done. He is great with other dogs and hasn't had an issue with any that he has met. He lived in a home with another dog as well. He is potty trained and crate trained. He walks well on a leash and is obedient. He would make a great family pet! Cooper is extremely loving, affectionate, and sweet. He is fearful of men when they come into the house. We believe that he had a negative experience with one at some point in his life. He will sometimes bark. When out in public he is fine with men approaching him and meeting him. He only seems to do this inside the home. He is up to date on his shots, dewormed, and neutered.
